My Daily Tea Brewing Method
Brewing tea is a simple but meaningful thing in daily life. Many people think making tea is just put hot water into tea leaves, but this is wrong. If you want to drink tasty tea, you need use correct teaware and right ways to brew it. Good teaware can make tea taste better and keep its original flavor, so master the skill is very important for every tea lover.
First of all, we need to choose suitable teaware for different kinds of tea. Different tea need different cups and pots, this is the basic rule. For example, green tea is light and fresh, it is best to use glass or porcelain teaware. Because these two materials will not absorb the tea smell, and they can keep the fresh taste of green tea well. However, black tea and pu-erh tea is more strong and mellow, so we can use purple clay teapot. It can keep warm longer and help tea leaves release more flavor. Many beginners make a mistake that use one teaware to brew all tea, this will make the tea taste bad.
Before brewing tea, preparing the teaware is necessary. Most people ignore this step and directly brew tea, which affect the tea taste. We should first wash all teaware with warm water to clean the dust and dirty things on it. Then we need to preheat the pot and cups by pour hot water into them. After waiting ten seconds, pour the water out. Preheating can let the teaware have a certain temperature, so the hot water will not turn cold quickly when brewing. If skip this step, the tea leaves cannot open fully and the flavor will be weak.
Next is the formal brewing steps. First, put right amount tea leaves into the teapot. Too much tea will make the tea bitter, and too little will make it tasteless. Most people usually put too many tea leaves when they make tea, that is why their tea taste too strong. Second, pour hot water into the pot. Notice that different tea need different water temperature. Green tea cannot use boiling water, because high temperature will burn the leaves and produce bitter taste. But oolong tea and pu-erh tea need 100℃ boiling water to active their aroma.
Besides, control the brewing time is also important. Do not soak the tea for too long time. Generally speaking, light tea only need twenty or thirty seconds to brew. For heavy fermented tea, we can soak it a little longer. After brewing finished, we can pour the tea water into small cups and drink it. Some people always soak tea for a whole day, this is a bad habit and it is not good for health.
Finally, we should maintain our teaware well after use. Many people just put the teaware aside after drinking tea, without clean it. Residual tea stains will stay on the teaware and breed bacteria. We need to wash the teaware with clean warm water and put it in a ventilated place to dry. Do not use soap or detergent to wash teaware, because the chemical smell will stay and destroy the tea flavor next time.
In conclusion, using proper teaware and correct brewing methods can greatly improve the taste of tea. Brewing tea is not only a daily thing, but also a small art. If we pay attention to every small step, we can enjoy delicious tea and feel the joy of life easily.
